NEW CASTLE – Providing senior citizens, their families and caregivers with information about the services available to them, Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) teamed up with Sen. Michele Brooks (R-Crawford/Lawrence/Mercer) to hold a Senior Expo on Friday, Sept. 22, at Cascade Park-Dance Hall in New Castle.

More than 50 exhibitors from local, state and federal agencies, along with a variety of senior and health-focused organizations, were on hand to offer information about programs and services designed to meet the needs of older Pennsylvanians. In addition, there were a number of health screenings, great food and a polka band.

“A large crowd attended our senior expo, and I couldn’t be more pleased,” said Brown. “Older adults are the fastest-growing demographic in the nation. They need your assistance in this ever-changing world of ours. However, the transition into senior years and retirement life today is significantly different than it has been in the past with improved health care, wellness options, educational opportunities, travel and technology enhancements. It was important for me to provide my senior constituents with an exciting and educational day.”

Brown said she will be planning another senior expo in the future. In the meantime, the representative urges seniors who have any questions or concerns to contact her office at 724-498-4397.
