HARRISBURG – Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) announced today the Lawrence County Historical Society has been awarded an $8,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) as part of the Cultural and Historical Grant Program. This funding will help cover operating expenses, including gas heating for the society's office and historic home, which houses vital archival records and artifacts.
These facilities house the society’s extensive archival records and artifacts, which require specific temperature and humidity levels for preservation. The funds will help ensure the society can continue maintaining the proper environment to safeguard Lawrence County's heritage and provide valuable resources for public research and education.
“This funding is critical to preserving Lawrence County’s rich history,” said Brown. “The Lawrence County Historical Society does incredible work in safeguarding our past, and I’m proud to support its ongoing efforts to educate and inspire future generations.”
The Lawrence County Historical Society maintains a 1905 historical home and museum, offers educational programs and provides extensive research resources to the public.
