HARRISBURG – Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) today announced schools across the 9th Legislative District have been awarded more than $951,000 in grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School safety and Security Committee (SSSC).
“Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is a top priority,” said Brown. “These grants will help our local schools strengthen security measures and provide critical mental health resources, creating a safer and more supportive learning environment for all. I’m proud to see these funds go toward supporting the future of our children and our community.”
School districts and technical schools in the 9th District that received school safety and mental health grants are as follows:
• Laurel School District - $118,590.
• Mohawk Area School District - $127,479.
• Neshannock Township - $123,140.
• New Castle Area School District - $160,539.
• Shenango Area School District - $119,334.
• Union Area School District - $113,708.
• Wilmington Area School District - $118,345.
• Lawrence County Career and Technical School - $70,000.
The PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee awards grants to schools and organizations across Pennsylvania to improve safety measures and provide essential mental health services for students and staff.
