Brown Announces $7.3 Million PENNVEST Grant for Taylor Township

October 15, 2025

HARRISBURG – Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) today announced the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has awarded a $7.3 million grant to the Taylor Township Board of Supervisors to support critical wastewater system upgrades.

“This investment is great news for Taylor Township residents,” said Brown. “Upgrading the wastewater system will improve service reliability, protect public health and help preserve the environment for future generations. I am grateful to see this kind of targeted funding come to our community.”

The funding will be used to modernize and improve the township’s wastewater treatment operations. The project includes the installation of a permanent flow meter and digital recording system, as well as the replacement of outdated analog equipment. Existing aeration tanks will be converted into sequencing batch reactor treatment tanks, and a new aerobic digester and ultraviolet disinfection system will be installed. The project will also include the removal of sewage sludge from the existing outfall channel, construction of a new 18-inch outfall channel and the establishment of a routine sludge removal schedule. The old comminutor and chlorine contact tank will be permanently decommissioned.

Founded in 1988, PENNVEST provides grants and low-interest loans for the design, engineering, and construction of publicly and privately owned drinking water distribution and treatment facilities, as well as stormwater and wastewater projects.
