Brown Announces Grant to Help Shape Shenango Township’s Future

LAWRENCE COUNTY - Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) announced today the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has awarded $57,500 to Shenango Township to update its comprehensive plan following its recent merger with South New Castle Borough.

The funding will support public engagement and data-driven planning to develop a new vision for the municipality that reflects residents’ priorities. The plan will focus on modernizing regulations, prioritizing infrastructure investments, strengthening economic development and improving quality of life.

“This grant gives Shenango Township an important opportunity to take a look at where the community is today and where residents want it to go,” said Brown. “Following the merger, it is important residents have a voice in shaping that future. Good planning can help ensure infrastructure, regulations and economic development keep pace with the community’s needs while preserving what makes Shenango Township a great place to live.”

Brown said the funding will help provide the community with a roadmap for responsible growth and long-term success.
The funding was awarded through DCED’s Municipal Assistance Program, which helps local governments undertake planning initiatives that support community development, economic growth and quality of life.
